Back to the origins of the school, MOVEP'14 will be held in Nantes, sixth biggest city in France, and located on the west coast, on the Loire and Erdre rivers.
The city has been called the most liveable city in Europe by Time magazine in 2004 and holds the title of European Green Capital 2013 awarded by the European Commission. It has, amongst many unique features, a beautiful castle, a great cathedral, a giant elephant, and nice cafés, pubs and restaurants, with large TV sets for those interested in the semi-finals of the soccer World cup!
MOVEP'14 itself will be held at École Centrale de Nantes, 20 min away from the city center, with a direct tramway line.
We will provide tramway and bus tickets, once you have reached the school location, but you may need to buy one for your initial trip thereto (buy it in some tramway stations, or in the buses, but not inside the tramways).
Several flight companies fly directly to Nantes. Non-direct flights, e.g. via Paris, are also possible.
The airport is located southwest of the city. A direct shuttle (30 min, EUR 7.5) links the airport to the city center ("Commerce" tramway station, see below).
There are fast trains (~2h20) from and to Paris at least once per hour.
From the station, a direct tramway line (line 1) allows to reach the "Commerce" tramway station, which acts as a transportation hub, in the city center in 5 min (see below).
A direct tramway line (line 2) links the "Commerce" tramway station to École Centrale ("École Centrale - Audencia" station) in approximatively 20 min.
For students (registered with the students fee), we provide rooms at the student residence La Bourgeonnière located at: 5 rue des renards 44072 Nantes.
The residence is two stations away from station "École Centrale" on the tramway line number 2 (station "Bourgeonnière"). This may still be considered walking distance from École Centrale but, in any case, tramway tickets will be provided for the whole week.
Breakfast is not available at the residence and we will unfortunately only provide coffee and tea before the first lecture of each day. There is a supermarket, and some other shops, very close to the residence.
Bed linen are provided by the residence.
Bath towels, soap, shampoo, etc. are NOT provided.
